Trends 2020 - these styles are hot

· Updated: · 3 min read

Whether it’s beards, hairstyles or fashion – in 2020, the motto is: New year, new style! The innovations seen at fashion shows and the fresh looks of Hollywood stars have already been shaping our customers’ preferences over the past few weeks. But which trends are really taking off now? Here’s a sneak preview: the era of long beards and oversized logos is over!

Beards are getting shorter

For a long time, beards were a real competition among men: who has the longest? That’s now changing again; full beards are being trimmed and are no longer meant to grow endlessly. Many are even going a step further and starting the new year after New Year’s Eve with a three-day or week-old stubble.

This is good news for anyone who hasn’t yet dared to experiment with a beard: the shorter styles suit every face shape and are easier to maintain. To make a good impression right from the start, I always recommend seeking advice from our professionals and having the contours shaped to your desired style.

Let your hair grow

In contrast to beards, hair is growing longer again. This also means that the undercut – shaved sides with short top hair – is no longer in fashion. Instead, hair is now allowed to grow freely, even at the nape of the neck. Overall, the look is becoming wilder, with individual strands sometimes falling onto the forehead.

Alternatively, the casual dandy look is making a comeback. For this, the hair is combed back, lying flat against the scalp. To get soft hair in perfect shape for this look, we use a sea salt spray, which we apply to towel-dried hair. This gives the individual strands a protective layer and the salt crystals add body. Combined with our setting soft wax, the hairstyle stays perfect all day long.

Wide and understated – the new trends for 2020

In fashion, too, we’re seeing fresh inspiration from London, Paris, Milan and New York. Trousers are set to feature wider cuts again this year, whilst tight-fitting styles such as ‘skinny jeans’ are losing popularity. Furthermore, garments are returning to a whole-piece look; the ‘ripped’ phase is slowly coming to an end.

Overall, the trend is moving towards a simpler look. This goes hand in hand with designers creating more understated tops once again. Oversized logos of the respective brands are disappearing from shirts, jackets and the like – fortunately, in my opinion.

Don’t want to miss out on the new trends for 2020? Why not pop into one of our salons and we’ll discuss how you can make an impression in the new year.

Yours, Anthony
