Roll forwards - curve monsters from the north

Small but mighty: when engineer Gerald built the first boo/G Funboards in his workshop in the south of Hamburg in spring 2019, they were intended solely for his children. But the compact, 56-centimetre-long mini-cruisers quickly became highly sought-after. More and more skate-loving kids and adults took an interest in this handcrafted innovation. And with good reason: these colourful eye-catchers fit into any rucksack, can handle rough terrain and are easy to ride.
You may have already spotted them on the streets, in the half-pipes or at our shop in HafenCity: these small skateboards, made from high-quality maple wood, are real eye-catchers not just because of their size, but also thanks to their varied and colourful designs. From the bright green ‘Green Mamba’ to the ‘Bloody Mary’ model adorned with a red iguana, right through to the classic beach look of the ‘Beach’, there’s something for every taste.
The beginning
Actually, the founder just wanted to build a small, cool board for his children. Once it was finished and the kids were tearing up the city streets on it, more and more enquiries started coming in. However, the Fun-Sport-Company’s origins go back a little further: as early as 2013, a kick scooter was crafted from a piece of bent sled wood at the founder’s then home in eastern Switzerland and produced in a small batch. The experience gained from this first product had a lasting impact on the development and marketing of boo/G.
So now, funboards. The idea was well received, but the first product range still had no name. The team put their heads together and searched for a suitable name. The decision quickly fell on ‘reptile’ – an obvious choice, as the deck’s shape is reminiscent of the fast and resilient reptiles of the animal kingdom. As the local workshop was soon unable to keep up with the high demand, the young company decided to hand over production to experienced manufacturers so that it could focus even more intensively on marketing and sales.
Riding fun with a learning curve
boo/G has set itself the goal of building an extremely compact yet very easy-to-ride funboard. The focus was on combining the manoeuvrability of small fish or penny boards with the riding comfort and cornering performance of longboards. The choice of wide trucks and large wheels has resulted in a completely new combination that guarantees riding fun with a quick learning curve and also impresses with its striking deck underside designs. But it wasn’t just the riding experience and the look that were the focus during the design phase: according to the manufacturer, the boo/G is currently the most manoeuvrable and safest board on the market.
boo/G for everybody
The stable cornering makes it particularly easy for beginners to cover their first few metres without falling and to get used to the handling. Thanks to the seven-centimetre wheels, obstacles such as small stones or kerbs are easily overcome compared to conventional skateboards. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the boo/G reptiles fits into a rucksack, bag or suitcase and can even be taken on board as hand luggage to make your next city break unforgettable.
