Travel tips Sweden - city, country, action!
· Updated: · 3 min read
Where should your next holiday be? We’re often drawn to warmer countries like Spain or Greece – yet we have a Nordic neighbour in Sweden that offers everything you need for an unforgettable trip. This Scandinavian country is particularly renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, but it also offers culture, sophisticated architecture and action-packed experiences. With an area of over 450,000 square kilometres and more than 200,000 islands, it’s naturally difficult to explore everything in a two-week trip. That’s why we’ve put together our travel tips for real men to make your visit to Sweden unforgettable.

Stockholm – the beating heart of Sweden
The capital is the heart of the country: a vibrant city and, with 2.3 million inhabitants, a lively metropolis that is incredibly diverse. Stockholm consists of 30 per cent water and almost half forest and meadowland. Even a simple stroll through Stockholm quickly turns into a real experience: places like ‘Södermalm’, an old working-class neighbourhood now filled with lots of hip and trendy cafés, or ‘Gamla Stan’, the old town with its small, authentic restaurants and narrow but beautiful streets, are a must on every visit to the city!
Outdoor enthusiasts take note!
Anyone who enjoys cycling along quiet country roads and dirt tracks through endless forests, relaxing whilst paddling on crystal-clear lakes, or passionately hiking for miles through nature will find “Småland” the perfect destination! The name “Småland” roughly translates as “Little Land”. In stark contrast to its name, the region is vast: nearly 29,000 square kilometres, filled with fascinating nature. The landscape also offers many extraordinary activities, such as outdoor cooking or Northern Europe’s longest zipline for an adrenaline rush in the dense forests.
Cool accommodation and hot insider tips
Those who long to fill their lungs with fresh, Nordic and properly cold air will feel right at home in northern Sweden. Here, the classic Swedish cliché comes to life: vast landscapes, cold temperatures and plenty of snow right into late spring. A particular highlight is the northern Swedish town of “Jukkasjärvi”, located in the famous region of “Lapland”. Those drawn to the tranquil, snow-covered landscapes can stay at the “Icehotel” – a former art project that has since evolved into a world-famous and inspiring guesthouse. Twenty-two art and luxury suites, complete with an integrated gallery and a stylish ice bar, transform a simple hotel stay into an unforgettable experience. Outside the hotel’s icy walls, a range of activities offer a welcome break from the daily grind. Ice fishing or thrilling dog sled rides make a visit truly unique.
Our insider tip
The Northern Lights tour by snowmobile. A fantastic journey through the Torne Valley in Jukkasjärvi. The snowmobiles’ headlights light the way, whilst the long shadows of the trees stretch into the darkness. A breathtaking silence descends when the snowmobile engines fall silent, as eyes turn towards the Swedish night sky and Sami specialities are enjoyed in a small hut. Until the end of winter in April, the sky is illuminated by the play of colours from the famous Northern Lights. An action-packed and fascinating event that is guaranteed to stay in your memory for a long time to come.
